What are your payment options?

I accept payment via cash, check, credit card, debit card, as well as through HSA and FSA accounts. Contactless payment methods are preferred at this time.

Do you accept health insurance?

If acupuncture is covered on your insurance plan, I am happy to provide a receipt for you to file for reimbursement from your provider. I do not bill health insurance directly and you will be responsible for payment in full at the time of service.

How many treatments will I need to feel better?

We will have a clearer sense of this following your initial visit and based on the information gathered during your intake, but most patients begin to notice some improvement after 2-3 treatments. Generally, chronic conditions tend to take longer than acute conditions to resolve. As the effects of treatment are cumulative, I encourage all patients to come in weekly for the first month or two, at which point we assess for progress and determine if you would benefit from spacing out the frequency of your visits.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please be in touch as soon as possible so that I may open up your time slot for another patient. Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice and no-shows will be charged the full amount of the scheduled appointment. All cancellations due to sickness must be communicated before 8am on the day of your scheduled appointment to avoid cancellation fees. If you are unable to change or cancel your appointment directly, please call, text or email me to reschedule your appointment for you. Cancellation fees may be waived in instances of personal or familial emergencies.

Please note, the reminder email you receive 24-hours before your appointment is sent as a courtesy. Your appointment is considered confirmed unless otherwise cancelled. When cancelled, you will receive an email confirming the cancellation.

What does ‘Olapidous’ mean anyway?

Ola is Spanish for wave and -ous is a suffix which means “abounding in or possessing the quality of”. Thus was born Olapidous — a neologism for “having the quality of a wave,” and an image which for me both captures the boundless process of healing and inspires it. Waves and healing alike stem from forces that are understood, and forces that are not; they are complex processes dependent on vast ecosystems, whose surface manifestations reflect a far deeper churning; and they always exist as motion, rather than fixed in any definable moment.
